SanDisk New Extreme Pro CompactFlash Memory Cards

Sandisk unveils its new Extrene Pro CompactFlash memory card with Power Core Controller, an advanced memory controller. The new Extreme Pro card offers “lightning-fast” read and write speeds of up to 600X 90MB/s over a UDMA-6 bus.

Also, the Power Core Controller’s firmware algorithms and 42-bit ECC engine maintain data integrity and extended card endurance through optimized wear leveling. SanDisk’s new CF card is available in capacities ranging from 16GB to 64GB. It features RTV Silicone coating for added protection against moisture and humidity and is able to withstand accidental drops of up to nine feet.

  • High-Performance: The SanDisk® Power Core™ Controller's dual-lane architecture and software algorithms double card performance, enabling the SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash cards' read/write speeds of up to 90MB/s over a UDMA-6 bus.
  • Increased-Reliability: The SanDisk Power Core Controller's firmware algorithms and 42-bit ECC engine maintain data integrity and extended card endurance through optimized wear leveling.
  • Simplified Design:To further increase overall card durability, the SanDisk Power Core Controller features an integrated design that requires fewer individual components on the card's printed circuit board.
The SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with a price ranging from $300 to $800. Also introduced is the new SanDisk Extreme that offers 400X 60MB/s read/write speed and 8GB, 16GB or 32GB capacities.

Transcend Launches new Memory modules with thermal Sensors

Transcend has released its server-grade DDR3 ECC DIMM memory with thermal sensors. The is RAM is mainly aimed for servers, however can also be used in workstations.

Server systems usually work round the clock and will have to handle loads of data. Transcend server-grade DDR3 modules that comes with an advanced thermal sensor. Motherboard chipsets monitor the exact temperature of each memory module and adjust the memory load accordingly. This gives the enhanced system performance while at the same time protecting the DRAM modules from potentially catastrophic failure and compromised system stability.

Transcend offers a a 3-year warranty and the support of Transcend's global service network for the new product.

Prices:

JM1333KLU -1GB: Rs. 3,000
JM1333KLU -2GB: Rs. 5,600

Transcend releases Compact Flash memory cards

Transcend is to launch Compact Flash memory cards in India. Targeted at performance-conscious photographers, these new cards utilize Turbo MLC (multi-level cell NAND flash chips) technology. Transcend claims that this provides the fast performance required for enthusiasts and professional photographers who use digital SLR cameras.

These new cards are claimed to provide transfer speeds of upto 92 MB/s while reading, and 87 MB/s while writing to the memory card. Said to operate in quad-channel mode, these cards can be upto twice as fast as older 300X cards, which is useful to store high-resolution images, and record videos continuously. Transcend offers the Extreme Plus 600X CF cards in 8GB and 16GB capacities, priced at an MRP of Rupees 8,000 and 16,000 respectively. They carry an international Lifetime Warranty.

Samsung introduces 40 nm 3 giga-bit DDR3 RAM

Samsung introduces the new 2 gigabyte DDR memory chips with higher density technology using a 40 nano meter manufacturing process. The great achievement about this process is that it allows the company to mass produce very dense chips without upping their power consumption .The main advantage of this new RAM is it will allow up to 16GB RAM sticks for servers and 4GB for notebooks, but should draw 1.35V and should let Samsung produce about 60 percent more memory at a given time than on its 50nm process, eventually lowering the price.

Each individual RAM chip also has about twice as much bandwidth as a typical 1 gigabit chip at 1.6 gigabits per second. Samsung hasn't said how soon the RAM will make its way into the marketplace or at what prices, though much of its memory is used for pre-assembled computers from major manufacturers.
