JVC GY-HM790 ProHD Camcorder


JVC has introduced new flagship JVC GY-HM790 ProHD camcorder that supports multicore or fibre based protection.JVC GY-HM790 ProHD camcorder features three 1/3 inch CCD image sensors for producing 1920*1080 images and video recording in 1080i, 720p, and even SD (480i) resolutions.The camera records at 35 Mbps (HQ mode/variable bit rate) or 19 Mbps/25 Mbps (SP mode/constant bit rate). The camera ships with a Canon 14x zoom lens or without lens, as accommodates a variety of lenses with its 1/3-inch bayonet lens mount. The HM790 features a new modular design, allowing users to attach ASI or BNC components for live feed via satellite uplink or microwave transmitter. Modules connect directly without extra cabling, allowing the camera to be used on a studio sled or handheld. Other studio options include a 26-pin Multicore Module, CCUs, and a Fiber Remote module.The device offers an analog SD pool feed input, 4.3-inch LCD screen, and 1.2 megapixel viewfinder. Two XLR inputs are provided for uncompressed LPCM audio recording, with manual level controls and phantom power if needed.

JVC expects the GY-HM790 to ship sometime in the summer. MSRP starts at $12,000 for a package with Canon's 14x HD ENG lens.
